NIOSH has published a new fact sheet entitled “Preventing Excavator Quick Coupler Attachment Struck-by Fatalities and Injuries”. Excavator quick coupling devices are widely used on construction job sites to rapidly change buckets and other attachments for various tasks. A quick coupler failure can cause the attachment to fall suddenly, causing severe injury or death of workers. Employers, contractors, and equipment suppliers should share and apply the recommended practices presented in this NIOSH fact sheet to help prevent deaths, injuries, and close calls related to excavator quick couplers.
