Eastern New York Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is proud to announce the following technical meeting on September 12th, 2016 at The Standard Restaurant and Lounge located at Crossgates Mall, Albany, NY, beginning at 5:30 p.m.:

Portable Ladder Safety

Ladders if used improperly can create a common work place hazard. They are frequently used and many times misused resulting in severe injuries including death from falls. In the last decade 43% of fatal falls involved a ladder. Among construction workers the number is even great at 81% involving ladders. Per the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) work-related falls from ladders caused 113 deaths and almost 15,500 nonfatal injuries that resulted in at least one day away from work in 2011. The discussion will review the following in regards to portable ladders:

Identify scope of problem

Types, materials and ratings
