April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

#SAAM is an annual campaign that works toward bringing awareness and prevention to sexual assault, harassment, & violence within our communities—including the workplace. While workplace sexual harassment is common, it is rarely reported. Research from the NSVRC shows that over 85% of employees who experience sexual harassment within the workplace never file a formal legal charge, & approximately 70% never initiate a complaint internally.

VPPPA understands that the narrative on sexual assault within the workplace needs to change. Ultimately, spreading awareness & sparking discussion are the first steps in cultivating a safe and welcoming environment for all workers, of all genders & demographics.

Interested in learning more? Check out VPPPA's latest blog post from our friends at NAWIC National - U.S.A. for insight on the risks & challenges facing women in construction. The article highlights the prevalence of sexism & sexual harassment within the industry & provides insight on how NAWIC continues to champion for all #womeninconstruction

Thank you VPPPA and NAWIC!
